I am an in-state student and I heard about all of the merit money that TCNJ gives. I was wondering if, based on my stats, it would be a safety. I have heard it is getting really competitive and that is why I'm a little concerned.

SAT: 1550/1600 (CR: 800 Math: 750)
GPA: 3.89/4.00 4.65 weighted, top 3%

I am the VP of a club, and will be Prez next year. I also have some volunteering. I have very few ECs but as a state school I am thinking TCNJ would be more stats based. With this considered, would it still be a safety or would it be a match?

They say that no school is a safety anymore no matter how good your stats are. But in my opinion you can definately get into TCNJ. My son had a 2300, 1490 on 2 sections. When he applied we didn’t really consider it a safety, but I was sure he would get in. And he did with a $10/year merit scholarship. It’s a great school with a beautiful campus. You should visit it if you haven’t already. It doesn’t have a feel of a state school, but rather a small private school. Unfortunately my son will most likely not be going there. He’s probably going to Tufts for pre-med.
