Is teaching yourself a language an EC? HELP

Well, procrastinated again (shocker I know) and Common App is due in 3 hours. Just wondering if teaching yourself a language (I've been learning Swahili on my own for 1.5 years) counts as an EC? It's something I'm very passionate about and it relates well to my major/other ECs. But I don't know if it would be weird to list this as an activity or what colleges would think. PLEASE HELP

I think it could be. Particularly for Tufts, it’s worth mentioning.

My daughter included on her activity resume a section she called “extracurricular foreign language study.” This included a summer immersion program in Hebrew, the courses she took in Arabic at the local community college, and the independent study she did to skip from Latin I to Latin IV.

I think it could be counted as an EC, but I’m not sure it will carry much weight unless you have some sort of indication of what you’ve learned, eg. AP/Subject test, or an example like DeskPotato gave you.

I included my self-studied Japanese as an EC on the common app.

I’d tie it into an essay if I could
