Or am I just thinking of old stereotypes?
What is the school like on weekends? Do students stay around and is the campus active, or is it quiet with most students going home?

I’m OOS (MD) and I think like 30% of the student body is as well. A few friends from my high school are freshmen there now and they love it. I guess for me personally, I don’t care how many other kids go home on weekends because I think of the entire city of Philadelphia as part of the campus, so how can it ever be quiet or boring? That’s what’s appealing to me. It would be different if it was in a remote suburban or rural location. If my future roommate likes to go home a lot, all the better. : )
My D is a sophomore at Temple, lived on campus as a freshman and currently is sharing an off campus apartment with friends. She loves the school and is always doing fun stuff on weekends, both on and off campus, and she has many friends who also live on campus or in the many apartments close by. TU definitely does not feel like a commuter school.
