Is the academic perception of Football Powerhouses hurt by their football popularity?

Haha too stupid for ND? Notre Dame couldn’t give a care in the world about their recruits’ GPAs…Jimmy Clausen had a 2.6 in high school… but of course the #1 QB recruit in the nation sounds pretty good to an admissions board… This is a seriously uneducated statement. Pretty borderline inappropriate too.

Take Cal this year… They’re getting the #1 DB in the nation… He’s got a 2.4… I wish I could get into UC-berkeley with a 2.4… but then again… I’m not a 5 star recruit.

If a coach can pull the strings ANY and I mean ANY high caliber D1 prospect can get into ANY school. All they need is to meet the NCAA clearinghouse’s minimum requirements… The coach will handle the rest.

I don’t think any less of UCLA or Cal or even ND for doing this… I mean Football = Money… at USC probably more a lot more than Alumni can donate… all for letting in a handful of underqualified kids… not a big deal
