I've always done SAT preparation and my score fluctuates between 2200 and 2400 (mostly on CR). Where I live most people take the SAT, but there are a few who take the ACT. Curious, I tried out the ACT practice test given in the booklet. Having never even seen the types of test questions, my scores were, in order of test, 34, 35, 34, 36. I nearly had some time problems on the reading section but I finished Test 1 10 minutes early, 2 20 minutes early, and 4 5 minutes early.
Considering my first attempt scores I am going to sign up for the Febrauary admission of the ACT. But colleges do weigh both tests equally? I found the ACT to be a lot more simple and less "open to interpretation" than the SAT.

Schools will accept either the SAT or ACT.

Some people have timing problems with the ACT, but it is more straight forward.

My kids found the ACT easier… D2 scored a 35 with no prep on it. She had a great SAT score, but she studied and tested twice to get it. That said, colleges accept both and seem to weight them equally.

The other 99% would appreciate it if you would step off your pedestal and not refer to the ACT as a “joke”. kthx.

Yes, the ACT has easier questions, but the timing is more difficult to manage. Also, the math section tests over more content areas. I think the two are becoming more like each other, honestly

There are ways to say that you do better on one test than the other without sounding like a pretentious snob…

Sign up and take the actual test, the cut off is tomorrow. My son does much better on the practice gets than the actual ones. Report back with your score

The practice test in the booklet is easier than the actual test. At least it seems so from personal experience.

Oops practice tests* on my phone.

Well I’m glad that you found it easier, but the vast majority will still have difficulty. It’s usually by a narrow margin a student is better at one form of standardized test than another.

I feel like this thread is just for you to flaunt how amazing you are. Get off your high horse and go find something better to do because honestly no one cares what scores you get. K thx bye

S got equivalent scores on both the ACT & SAT. It varies by individual but it doesn’t hurt to take both to see whether you do significantly better in one format over another. Most Us will accept either or both tests.

you are a genius… i wish i could rip out those scores on practice tests…

Put your money where your mouth is if it’s such a “joke” to you.

You scored a 35 composite, which equates to about a 2350 on the SAT. If you score within 2200-2400 on the SAT, that’s about a 34-36 on the ACT. So by your “logic” the ACT isn’t any more of a “joke” than the SAT is for you; you did equally well on both, and any college would gladly accept a student with such scores. Please don’t ridicule a test simply because you have an outstanding score, it makes others feel inadequate. Granted CC is a site for overachievers, you don’t see many people strutting around calling something a joke simply because they are the 1% who can take a test well.

@1golfer1. A great practice test does not always equal success on test day. Let us know your score after you take the test for real. Many people on this board will not appreciate calling the ACT “a joke.” [-X
