Is the ACT essay pretty much the same as SAT essay?

^ title since I'm already took the SAT 3 times and plan to take ACT in a few weeks.

I’ve taken SAT twice and ACT once. I find that on SAT, the prompts are best to answer with examples from history and literature, while ACT essays often are about personal experiences. (ex: on the ACT I took, the question asked whether parents should be allowed to track their kids using GPS on cell phones). And FYI, I did pretty well on both, haha. Good luck!

The ACT essay prompts are much more specific than the SAT ones. I would definitely recommend you look at a few prompts and practice brainstorming ideas :)

The SAT lends to much more liberal uses of literature, art, and current events.

The ACT lends to much more liberal uses of personal experience, logic, and examples when needed to support a particular thesis that you presented.

I got a 12 on both. I used 3 examples in my SAT essay to support my example, but 0 examples in my ACT essay- I just argued my point with logic.

ACT essays are less abstract and in my opinion easier.
