I applied to Engineering ED anticipating a major in Electrical and Computer Engineering. At the time, I really had no idea what Operations Research was, or what that entailed...and I'm now not sure if I'd like to major in OR or ECE. In the spring is there like an official declaration of major within the college you were accepted to? I know on the engineering tour the students running it said that it's very easy to switch majors after freshman year, but if between now and the spring I decide I'd rather enter as an OR major could I do that or what? Thanks if anyone knows the answer.

No, you don't have to declare until end of sophomore year (end of frosh year for engineers) You don't actually have a major until that time, just an anticipated major.

awesome. Thanks.

Know anyone in the OR program sparticus w/ any impressions yet?

Not to my knowledge, sorry.

So if I dont want to have the major that I put on my application, I can just explore and take classes I'm interested in freshman yr or will Humec make me take their requirements?

you take whatever whenever you want. You had just better fulfill the requirements of the college and a major in the amount of years you want to spend at college.

Ha, well it looks like I'm lucky in that OR and ECE share ENGRD 211 as the second-semester freshman engineering distribution requirement :)

SO I dont have to take like a certain number of Humec classes if im in that college? Also.. how many classes do people take on average each semester?

read the humec requirements... They require something like 40 credits in their school? I don't remember, I haven't looked at that for a while.
