My daughter was an hour into the AP Gov test today and there was an incident necessitating the evacuation of the building. The College Board was contacted and the school was told that everyone would have to retake the test on May 24th. My D heard some mumbling about the make-up date test being much harder. Is there any truth to this? And, if so, does the grading take this into account?

I believe it's called AP Cosmetology :)

Just kidding. To answer your question (this happened to my cousin a few years back), the make-up tests are calculated to provide no disadvantage to late testers. My cousin's testing group was halfway through the multiple choice in the AP World History test, but someone pulled the fire alarm switch and they had to evacuate the building. All in all, he found that the difficulty of the make-up test was comparable to the difficulty of the original.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response. This makes sense, but it gives my daughter some comfort during the next couple of weeks. Appreciate it.

Keep in mind that some of the exams have two forms to them, and both MUST be of equal difficulty. This means that make-ups have to be equally difficult as well.

One thing you also have to keep in mind, however, is that the tests won't have the exact same questions so your daughter might argue that her exam was way harder because she didn't know a specific topic that showed up more on the make-up than the 'regular' exam.
