I currently live in Waco and was wanting to attend McClennan community college here, then transfer to UH for Civil Engineering, and I was wondering if I took the CLEP exam for some classes i really dont want to take, if they can/will transfer from one college to the other? and how does that work, do you get the hours for taking the class? i just found out about it last night.

Your new school would have to be willing to accept CLEP directly from the College Board. Ask about the school’s CLEP transfer policy. What tests to they accept? What score is needed? How many credits are granted for the CLEP? And what will the CLEP stand in for in terms of the graduation requirements. Will the CLEP be accepted into a major, if its a subject in your major? Those are all separate questions.

Here is a handy brochure from UH’s website (http://www.las.uh.edu/uts/brochure/20140109-credit_by_examination_brochure___by_course.pdf). Definitely check it out ahead of time.
