Is the co required?

Your not seeing it as immoral is precisely the reason why it will be overlooked on your application.

There are many others with your thought process, and adcoms are aware of that. If you lied about a title, the adcoms will not care since they don’t give a damn about the title. So will you be caught if you mention ‘president’ instead of ‘co-president’? No you will not be caught. Therefore many others, like you, will likely lie on the application. What will the net effect be? Lots of ‘presidents’ and ‘co-presidents’ on other peoples’ applications, which will essentially reduce the significance of your own title as well as your own lying… in lying you eliminate the uniqueness of your own application which is clearly counterproductive to your interests. Therefore, the actual benefits to lying are almost null. The costs are also null, assuming you feel no guilt and assuming asking this useless question did not cost you any valuable time.

Try to think about the situation in terms of what the average person would do, so you can realize that lying is neither economically nor spiritually feasible.

actually asking this question got me some great tips. I can’t nor won’t control what others do, but I sure as hell will do what’s best for myself regardless of their choices ;).

It also doesn’t matter if you think it is immoral or not. You don’t get to make the rules.

^On the contrary, considering it’s my application, the only person making the rules is actually myself. Nice try though.

Well, obviously you CAN do anything you want. But you don’t get to decide what does and does not qualify your application to be accepted at any college. That’s kind of what the admissions office is for…

Which is exactly why I’m asking this question so that I can accurately gauge the risks and rewards for what I may (or may not) do. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clear that up for everyone for the fourth time now just in case they didn’t understand before, irishrabbit.

You’re welcome.
