Is the extra material in Calc BC really hard?

I looked on the college board site and noticed that there really isn't that much extra material in calc BC vs. AB. Is that extra material really hard or something, because if not I really don't see any draw backs to taking BC (I get A's in precalc). What are your guys' opinions? Should I take BC?

No, except for Taylor series (if your book doesn't cover it very well).

It goes 1.5 times as fast. The material doesn't have to be hard for a course to be hard, it just has to be presented in a fast and/or confusing way.

go for BC. after an easy 5 on AB I wish I planned ahead and studied to take BC.

Yeah BC just moves more quickly. I'd recommend having a good grasp of the idea of derivatives and integrals before jumping in though.

Guys If you're taking AB Calc but want to self-study for BC which is the best Prep book.

(I want maximum knowledge of the subject, AP Test is second priority)

If you study AB for a whole year you will be BORED OUT OF YOUR MIND!

BC goes quite a bit faster than AB. If you can manage and keep up the speed, by all means, go for it. You do get an AB subscore if you take the BC exam, so there's really no harm.

My class got *****slapped by a quiz involving Taylor and Maclaurin series, which are difficult when presented sans examples. Needless to say, the teacher gave more homework on that particular set of four lessons than he had on the past fifteen combined.
However, I have the Stewart, which is much better than my class' mass-market Hostetler, so I was able to understand the material after self-studying it because I was out on a college visit.

My class uses Stewart, and I think it's pretty good. I find calculus very easy, and I couldn't imagine spending a whole year studying the AB material. Take BC!

I hope it's more interesting that precalc/trig because precalc is really boring and analytic trig (almost done with this chapter) annoys me beyond words.

^ It is. I hated my functions/analytic geometry class (our school's name for adv. precalc), but we did the first 2 chapters of calculus at the end and it was great. Everything clicked and each new concept was really interesting. Although it can get frustrating sometimes.

Hmm, analytic trig was my favorite part of precalculus. To each his own I guess.

So, the general consensus is go for BC than?

Yes. Take BC. May the forks be with you. :)

any other thoghts?
