Is the FAFSA and CSS EFC usually usually a good indicator of how much you have to pay

My EFC is like around $3400 from the FAFSA/CSS information. For people who have experience with USC already, did your Financial Aid package really meet 100% of your needs? How much can i expect to pay?

The CSS/Profile does not give EFC information, only the FAFSA gives you an EFC.

USC uses the FAFSA to distribute federal aid including (but not limited to) Stafford subsidized and unsubsidized loans, federal work/stidy and Pell grants.

USC uses the CSS/Profile, which considers assets that the FAFSA does not (such as home equity) to distribute USC grants, so the amount you will be expected to pay may differ from your FAFSA EFC.

For more information, including loan and work/study amounts included in packages., please read page one here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/839970-faq-usc-financial-aid-2010-a.html</a></p>

My EFC is ~$42,000.

I don’t know how much such a number will factor into how much aid I will receive.

OK summarizing: I completed the FAFSA and CSS/Profile in the College Board website.

I downloaded the covers and faxed the tax form, w2 & schedules.

Anything else?

Do I have to fax the Fafsa application and CSS profile to the university or can I trust that College Board will comply with the March 2 deadline?

I should have posted this in “FAQ for USC Financial Aid 2010” link.

Greenery - perfect! You are all set. Now all you have to do is wait. And wait…
