I got into the Computer Science Honors Program even though I didn't apply but I was wondering how much better it actually is, it's accelerated and I get priority but is that it? Is there some sort of scholarship included or is it just what they had listed.

First, that's not really honor college...it's the computer science honor program...
You got in without applying? interesting... I got a letter saying I'm invited to join the honor program... idk how to apply now...
scholarships? idk... I don't see honor college only scholarships...
about other benefits. the honor program's site have listed all those nice stuff... I think the best is the small class size and more attentions. That's very useful to me...

I dont know about SBU, but you should ask, many colleges Honors people get to register first for classes. This will be no small deal if SBU guesses wrong on yield and ends up with overcrowding. Many state schools (dont know re SBU) are quietly telling kids 4 year graduation is unrealistic, you just cant get your classes in.

Computer Science Honors gets some specialized honors sections of computer science classes, priority registration, preference into the grad program... things like that. Well worth it for a tough department. I think they do look beyond those who apply, because not many folks know about the program because it's so specialized.

It has nothing at all to do with the Honors College.

Kayf- I'd be wary of making generalizations -- and I know you couched it with the parenthesis -- of things that you admit you don't know anything about.

Chris

I didnt admit I knew nothing about -- I made statements based upon what some kids are being told, and advised OP to investigate. And you did confirm that Honors students get priority registration.
