Is the huntsman dorm in the quad?

if not what dorm is it / where is it??

3rd floor of kings court

haj- the penn website said that all first year huntsmaners will live in king's court. according to bern who's at penn:
"KINGS COURT/ENGLISH HOUSE - In my opinion the worst dorms on campus. The people are super nerdy. It is usually referred to as the "nerdy asian dorm" (no offense to anyone). The rooms are pretty big in Kings Court usually doubles but you share a hall bathroom. English House is really run down and it has mostly doubles with hall bathrooms. "
so not in the quad

at least its kings court and not english house. And yeah it does have a reputation for being very nerdy and overly asian. The house has really nerdy programs like ST Wing, etc.

pics of KCEC: http://kcech.house.upenn.edu/pictures/house.php
KC looks decent (3,4,5 pics and it's not bad)
EC is disguisting (last pic titled "view from courtyard")

hahha dude watch out for the M&T floor =P
kings court is so filled with asians. and the dorm bathrooms kinda suck.
but dude, THE TOILET PAPER rocks
you will see once you get there what i'm talking about (look on ur bathroom stall door)

Where do M&T people live?

Well, let me defend KCECH. I live there, and I actually like it. I am not Asian, nor am I particularly nerdy, and neither are the people at least living near me (of course, I cannot attest to STWing, lol.) Also, I personally think that EH is nicer than KC. Although KC definitely is more aesthetically appealing on the outside, the EH rooms trump those in KC (except the corner rooms with two windows, that is). The EH rooms are palacial--the biggest on campus pretty much. The floor-to-ceiling windows and ESPECIALLY having your own sink are HUGE plusses. And it is certainly nice to have a dining hall inside the dorm, and Oasis, the convenience store, is handy too. Of course there are cons (the dining hall is not open on the weekend, Oasis doesn't open until mid-afternoon, and the bathrooms are a bit, well, on the less-than-sterile side, but that seems to be the case all over.) My point is, just because it isn't the Quad, KCECH is still a nice place to live. Yes, it does not have the "collegiate" look of the Quad, but, IMHO, the rooms in KCECH are better (even though the Quad has A/C and we don't, but oh well...) Just my two cents, take it for what it's worth ;-).

KC/EH have larger rooms than Hill.... other than that I personally do not know why anyone would want to live in KC unless they had to.

Buttom line: It's not as bad as people make it out to be, but it's not all that great of a dorm either.

Is KC that much worse than Hill? To me it seems like all non-quad dorms would be more or less the same. BTW - Is there any way to get out of Huntsman housing? No offense to you all but I wanna party in the quad...

No, Huntsman people MUST live in Huntsman. No exceptions. You don't actually party in the quad anyway.

The biggest drawback about KCECH (at least it was for me) was the dearth of any social scene whatsoever. The small size and peripheral location assure nobody goes by unless they live there.

But that's not a problem for the Huntsman folk since you guys socialize with each other.

If you're a non-Huntsman student and you've been assigned to KCECH, my advice as a veteran would be to get out while you still can. Apply to transfer for any reason you can come up with. Yes, it sucks that much.

that's not good to hear...

If you are a girl it is not so bad living in English House considering the entire freshman football team lives there- they are far from nerds.

Yeah I know someone who lives in KC, and she told me to avoid it at all costs.

i assume that would be good for guys too. they should be cool...

I can literally say the only thing I didn't absolutely love about Penn is living in KCECH. If I had been lucky enough to live in the Quad, I'd be so content.

It's been tracked, and people who live in the Quad on average give more money to Penn after they graduate...I wonder why...

Living in the Quad makes you feel like you're at a real Ivy League school. Living in KCECH makes you feel like you go to Drexel.

There's a group on TheFacebook(.com) called "Kings Court English House Veterans for Truth" full of people who hate the place.

the other group that is quite amusing is "People for Bulldozing Drexel"

I confess, I am the founder of both Facebook groups.
