Is the International Baccalaureate Diploma the best diploma available?

Is the IB Diploma considered the best diploma a graduating senior can get? My counselor told me this today, and I would like to hear some other opinions. I'm currently an IB freshman, doing great and at the top of all my classes. I'm also willing to work hard. However, right now I'm considering my options and questioning whether or not the IB Program is worthwhile- will the extra effort and time pay off eventually? How much of an advantage will getting the diploma truly give me in applying to colleges? Does the program really help significantly in preparing students for a college workload?
Thanks very much in advance for helping me out with my questions!

The search function will reveal several (!) threads on this topic.

My brief spiel as an IB senior: The workload does get a lot harder–MYP isn’t really an accurate portrayal. And colleges don’t appreciate it more than AP, so it’s not necessarily going to benefit you when it comes to college admissions. Kids who come back from college, however, always say IB was much harder than college (whether that college is Clemson or Harvard) and great college prep.

Thank you! Does anyone else possibly have anything to say about this, I would appreciate it very, very much!

I have to agree with glass. For all the extra work and stuff it ends up being the same as taking AP classes. Plus a lot of times you don’t even get credit for SL courses.

It’s confusing sometimes because the terms/symbols used aren’t the ones typically used in the US (especially business).

The highest range IB scores def trump AP but if you’re anywhere else in the range, its about equal.
