Under the school you're applying for, Penn asks for what specific program/major you're applying for. Is this at all binding, or is it just to gauge interest? And what if I want to double major?

thanks!

Your intended major is not binding. In fact, approximately half of all students switch gears and change their majors once they experience college. You can double major or even submatriculate (get a masters in the same 4 years there) at Penn.

… what about something like market and systems engineering? … it requires a spl essay… but if someone isnt sure about it , can they opt for it later?..
and can we double major across seas and CAS … ( across wharton its quite tough…)

It’s really easy to switch after you’re in. You need a 3.4 ish gpa to switch between college and engineering. Wharton requires something like a 3.9. You can apply after you have 8 credits, and if you meet the GPA requirement you’ll probably get it.

You can’t double major between schools directly. Some majors are available outside the home school but in most cases you would do a dual degree.

Actually I think all the engineering majors have recently been open to CAS students, although you would be getting a BAS in engineering. Math and physics are available to SEAS students, and maybe some others.

Actually I think they just started a program where SEAS students can double major in the College, and not have to fulfill all of the College sector requirements (don’t think they graduate with a BSE and a BA though…) A little hazy on the details, but the idea is that it’s supposed to be easier for SEAS students to double major in the College.
