Is the PSAT a good indicator?

How did you guys do on the PSAT vs. the SAT? Was it a good indicator for what your SAT score would be like?

the psat in jr year was a pretty good indicator for all 3 of my kids (211-2130, 199-1930, 222-2160).
Each of their psat scores went up 10-20 points from soph to jr with no extra work.

From my PSAT in Sophomore year I went up 120 pts on my Junior year SAT. I guess it was pretty accurate, and an extra year made a big difference. With the new SAT though I’m not sure how well it’ll do at predicting scores

D had 205 and 2070, so yes in our case

I took the PSAT and SAT a month apart and scored 90 points higher on the SAT.

219 and 2320, so not quite. And I took them a month or two apart.

yes for my D
10th grade PSAT 214 SAT 2150
11th grade PSAT 231 SAT 2310

179 PSAT Junior year to 2190, and it could be higher with the January SAT.

^ That’s a huge jump. Did they prep? For my son, he had a huge jump on his Math score. Almost 160 pts difference from sophomore year to junior year without prep.

Meh mine dropped around 100 points  (And I took the SAT a whole year later too!)

I think I got lucky on the PSAT and unlucky on the SAT XD

Junior year PSAT was a 226, and I got a 2270 on an SAT taken the next month (2300 superscore). So they were pretty correlated for me.
For what it’s worth though, my sophomore PSAT was a 221, and my sophomore SAT was a 2140. Less of a correlation that year, for whatever reason.

Ahah @OrchidBloom‌ you’re not alone! My SAT score dropped 130 pts between my first and second sittings. I was actually pretty proud of my score since I took the test on 4 hrs of sleep and in Syracuse, NY while at a Hockey tournament (I’m not from Syracuse).

Not such a great indicator, 207 sophmore, 209 junior, but 2270 on sat, no prep.

Not a relatively great indicator.
10th grade: 218
11th grade: 218 (lol)
SAT: 2310/2330/Superscore 2380

Thanks guys!
