I am already committed to Tulane and sent in the deposit.Does anyone know what the accepted students reception is for?Is it mostly for accepted students who are sill deciding?I don’t really know if going would benefit me at all and am trying to decide whether or not to go.
@00110011 Typically the “Accepted Students” receptions are for students who have not made up their minds. If the reception is convenient I would suggest that you go anyway. It’s a good way to meet other students who are in your same situation and hear about different opportunities on campus. If, however, it’s difficult for you to attend, you would be much better off making the effort to attend Orientation which is held on campus and there you meet others who will be attending with you, create your schedule for your first semester and get your id card, etc.
@00110011 I completely agree with Debmom. It’s not necessary to go. At the Accepted Student reception, the admissions counselor will speak, show a short video presentation on Tulane and will then answer questions. At the one we went to (4 years ago at the Newark Academy in NJ) there were also a couple of current students and parent ambassadors who took questions. They also had each kid go around the room and stand and say his/her name and where they were from. Most had not committed yet. Having visited Tulane prior to the reception and having already committed, we did not really learn anything new, but it was exciting to get another glimpse of Tulane.
Thank you for your inputs, I really appreciate it!I don’t think I am going to go because I plan on going to the orientation thing at Tulane and doing an early move in program. My dad also went to Tulane which was a huge reason I chose it so I have a general idea of what to expect.
I really wanted to go to the reception that will be in our town this week… but our son hasn’t been accepted yet!
