I’m using the The Real ACT Red Book for practice. To any one who has used it, did you find the actual ACT easier or harder and for what sections? I can barely get my score past a 30 on English and Reading and I’m getting really nervous cause the ACT is next week. The first time I took it I got a Composite of 29… I really need a 31. Help?
I’m sorry to say- the red book is easier than the real test. Online tests are closer to reality.
How much easier is it than the real test? I am working with a couple of clients now who appear to be doing fantastic using the red book. How many points lower should I expect the real score to be? Do they make it easy to encourage people to take the ACT rather than the SAT?
DD could never finish the tests in the red book in time. She finished the actual ACT test with time to spare. Her score on the actual ACT test was the same as if she’d had infinite time on the red book tests. So, she found the red book harder.
The students I worked with this past year had scores that dropped 2-4 points when we switched from the red book to the online tests.
@RidgewoodTutor I have attempted some of the sections in the Princeton Review Book. My scores dropped significantly and i’m extremely disappointed and depressed. I’m considering canceling my registration for the next ACT which is next week. This sucks
can you save some money and just transfer to the June or Sept administration? Practice over the summer- I like Erica Meltzer’s ACT English, Corn’s ACT Math book, for example…
Also Mike Barrett’s ACT black book is good
Is pretty weird it would be 3 points difference. Seems like they did that to convince people to take the ACT. Was trusting real tests, but I guess that was a mistake.
