Hey, I was just wondering how the SAT I was graded. For the march test in math, out of 54 questions, I missed 5 and got a 700. Is that right? I always hear of people getting 800 and missing a few, so I was wondering what I'm doing wrong.

Your number correct/incorrect is used to get a raw score. A preset scale is applied to your raw score to get your scaled final score. The scale is determined by CB before the test administration and varies from test to test. Sometimes, up to -2 on the math is a 800 while other times, you can't miss any to get a 800. The verbal scale is always more leinent than the math scale. The writing scales with the SAT II Writing used to be quite leinent, but from what I've heard here on CC, the new ones are pretty harsh

So does it make sense to have 700 if I missed five? That sounds pretty harsh.

that sounds about accurate.. for march it was 800.790.760.740.720.710,680 and so on.. its sounds similar.
