Or do they taste so bad that you'd need to bring a filter? Cause Im not bringing a car to campus, so I can't go out to buy bottled water.

Well, it never hurts to have a filter, but the water in the dorms and in Austin in general is immensely drinkable. I brought a Brita filter and used it incorrectly for the first two months so that the water didn’t actually filter out, but even then I thought it tasted fine.

The water in your room’s sink might taste/smell funny at first (because the tap probably hasn’t been used in a while), but if you let it run for a few minutes, the pipes should clear up and you’ll have no further problems. I drank water from my sink and the hallway water fountain all year.

Bring a Brita pitcher. I lived in the oldest dorm and sometimes we’d get rusty water.

I’m planning on bringing a filter, but which kinds do you guys recommend? The one that goes on the tap, a pitcher one, or the water bottles with filters?

Bring the Brita pitcher, get a 14oz or 32 oz Nalgene water bottle.

Save money on not buying plastic water bottles! It’s what I do.

Walmart carries a 5 cup Brita pitcher for ten dollars. :-)
