Thanks!
Yes. It is.
Depends on what you classify as good. It is definitely not even close to the prestige of SCS in the field of CS.
@Bored1997 I am debating between going to UCLA as a pre-Business economics major or going to Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business. Do you think the Tepper School of Business is better than UCLA’ Business Economics major? Thanks!
If you’re in-state for UCLA then it is a no-brainer go for UCLA but, if you’re OOS for UCLA I would suggest visiting both schools and see which fits better for you.
@Bored1997 I’m OOS for UCLA. Thanks or suggestion, I will definitely go visit the 2 schools.
I would not say that it is not even close to SCS prestige. Tepper is quickly gaining recognition in the business world, is consistently ranked among top graduate and undergraduate business programs and is even building a whole new building in order to offer more admissions to a growing number of interested applicants. I think as far as business schools go it is much better known and respected than UCLA. Honestly I’ve never heard of UCLA business school. Maybe that’s just me.
UCLA is ranked 15th in business school rankings while Tepper is 18th if that helps, both rankings are by US News.
What an outright lie! US News ranks Tepper 7th! The other ranking I found (collegechoice.net) ranks it 11th with UCLA nowhere to be seen out of 50 schools!! On US News it was only top 10 so obviously UCLA is not on there.
Not sure what your beef is with CMU @Bored1997 - probably because you didn’t get in.
Oh I see @Bored1997 was looking at grad schools to obscure the data when this is most probably an undergrad… nice try. UCLA is not known for undergrad business school but CMU is. Sorry.
@gameofcodez in all fairness, nobody cares about undergrad biz rankings. MBA is where that rankings focus matters. Most top schools don’t even offer undergrad biz study. Yes some do, but most don’t.
CMU is a great school across the board.
@MiddleburyDad2 I would not argue with that if we were talking about best business schools in general, except that this is obviously an undergrad student trying to decide where to go to undergrad business school so why would they not consider undergrad business rankings?
Agreed.
OP - Tepper is strong and, in my opinion, likely to get stronger. Besides overall strength, another thing to consider is what the respective bus schools are best at. CMU Tepper is strongest in quantitative areas such as operations research, data science / business analytics, quantitative finance, and the application of computing in business solutions.
Hahahaha great shot @gameofcodez it is true, I was waitlisted and then rejected by CMU, all I have to say to that is that it is their loss because I am already developing my startup and winning competitions to get funding for it, I don’t care what you think about me, I was just trying to help a guy who was looking for help. UCLA is not ranked for undergrad business therefore, you should stick with CMU for undergrad.
