I finished my common app essay last week and have had 3 people proofread it. It’s about a girl whom I only saw once in my 7th grade middle school’s cafeteria and I talked about how I was scared to talk to her.
Before I knew it, the bell rang and I never saw her again. The essay is basically about how I gained a new persoective, learning to take opportunities as they come and not letting fear take over my life anymore. I talked about a bucket list I made shortly after that day and it became my way to keep track of my goals. I wrote about how we met again four years later, just earlier this year, and how it was like I was given a second chance.
Is this a little unconventional for my essay? I’m asking this so that I’ll have ample time until the early action deadline of my top choice school in the case that I should write about a new topic.
