Hello!

I was recently accepted into the University of Montana, more specifically the Davidson Honors College. I plan to study and hopefully major in Biology. I wanted to know if these programs are impacted, and if so, to what extent? Also, if you have gone to Montana, what were your opinions and thoughts of the school? Or the Honors College? Thank you so much for your time and response/ It is greatly appreciated!

Impacted typically means that the major is oversubscribed and requires additional credentials, above and beyond what the university requires for admission, to get into the major. As someone who got into the Honors College, you have those credentials, and assuming the Davidson Honors College gives priority registration, you shouldn’t have a problem getting classes.

My son is an OSS freshman at the Honor’s College and is thriving. While I can’t speak to the Bio program, he’s had great opportunities already. I’d agree with whenhen about your acceptance into the Honors program. In terms of my opinion of the school…We were a little worried initially that UM might not be as challenging as some of his other options–and that may be true. (In fact, to be perfectly honest, we were initially a little uninspired by our school visit: the campus seemed a little too quiet, and the dorms a little shabby, comparatively speaking.) But, faculty members at the Honors College seem very engaged with their students, and he’s been tapped for grants and research scholarships. I really doubt that he’d get that kind of attention or opportunity at other colleges. Very impressed. It’s unfortunate that this wonderful school gets so little attention on this site. I have three kids in college this year, and this school is by far the standout in terms of the unique academic pursuits as well as the vibrant faculty-student dynamic. Oh, and he’s having a great time, too. Friendly, smart kids at the Honor’s dorm. Missoula’s a fun town with a great vibe. The mountains. He couldn’t be happier with his choice.

1° no it’s not 2° as mentioned above, being in the Honors College, even if it were, you wouldn’t be…impacted. Congratulations!
