You’re missing the point. There’s nothing wrong with these schools! Many instate Virginia students, and some OOS, receive excellent educations at these schools. These are not the students Questbridge is targeting. Questbridge tries to make students across the nation aware that a college education at the partner colleges (which are all considered high level [Partner Colleges](QuestBridge)) are not out of reach due to funding or other obstacles. These are not students that would pick perfectly good state publics. These are very capable students that may not even think college is an option at all. I don’t want to make a lot of further ‘claims’ of knowledge because I honestly am not familiar enough with the program and do not want to misspeak.

The students that qualify for Questbridge are usually in the top 5% of their classes and are at a disadvantage financially. They are high achieving individuals that want to go to a college that meets their academic ability. That is why it is important they chose one that is not beyond their capabilities and where they can be successful. It is actually a great program.

Yes, despite what some people may now be leading you to believe, UVa continues to meet 100% of the documented financial need of all US students. That usually includes a mix of federally subsidized loans, work study jobs, and AccessUVa funds.

As I understand it, the Questbridge system includes a major college counseling component, and is not just financial aid.
