is the weather like Chicago?

how's the weather at St. Louis?
very similar to Chicago's?? colder? warmer? sunnier? less snow?

St. Louis weather is similar to Chicago but warmer; November in St. Louis is like Chicago in October, likewise May in St. Louis is like June in Chicago. Chicago generally has nothing like the heat and humidity so common in St. Louis in July and August. A typical St. Louis winter has less snow than Chicago, but sleet or freezing rain is more common than in Chicago.

I think St. Louis winters are considerably milder than Chicago's. Of course, it can get cold in St. Louis, but the temperature is more variable than in Chicago. So, it's not uncommon for St. Louis to have bouts of very mild weather for a few days in the middle of winter that quickly melts the little snow they usually get. In contrast, in Chicago, once the "deep freeze" sets in, it usually lasts until March.

St. Louis is known to have some of the worst weather in the country; it is cold & damp in the winter, hot & muggy in the summer. But that leaves fall & spring which are more relevant to an academic year calendar.

I have lived in Chicago (20 years) and St. Louis (3 years.) St. Louis weather is much milder than Chicago's. It does not snow often in St. Louis, the cold is not as penetrating, nor as persistent. The skies in Chicago (I love Chicago, but I hated this) stay grey throughout winter - the sun RARELY breaks through until Springtime. You get used to it, but you really miss the sun. So, St. Louis beats Chicago during Winter hands down.

Spring in Chicago is so fantastic, and so is Fall! Spring is such a relief after the long winter and people flock to the lakefront and beaches (though the water is COLD, and I have been treated for a fair number of ear infections after actually swimming in Lake Michigan when I was younger.)

St. Louis Spring and Fall is also very nice, but without the harsh winters, I don't remember appreciating those seasons quite as much as I did when I lived in Chicago.

Summer... I think Chicago wins hands down. It was much hotter in St. Louis, without the lake breezes or lakefront. Still, we had a pool in St. Louis - and that was great. Many houses in St. Louis have pools because there are more opportunities to use them.

Yes, the summers here can get up to 110°F in the summer. But if you're looking at WUSTL, that shouldn't matter, since there's no school during the summer.

Actually, many undergrads may spend a summer here in St. Louis, either taking extra classes, working on a research or intern project, or acting as a RA/counselor/instructor for one of the many summer programs on campus. Sure, it can be quite hot and humid here in the summer, but the campus has a different, less crowded and more relaxed feel in the summer that many people enjoy. Having said that, the last couple summers have been comparatively quite mild here and pleasant through most of June and July.

Yeah, I've done exactly that, but the summer weather's not as important as the fall/winter/spring weather.

thank y'all
