We have been getting recruiting calls from students in colleges. First, just colleges in Minnesota, where we live. Then one or two from neighboring states. Last night we got one from Hope College in Michigan.

Did we do something to get ourselves on a call list? If so, is there a way to get off it?!

Son only got reams of information by mail- anyone want 10 or more requests from certain U's? They will be recycled eventually. His problem was the military- he was 2 grades ahead. I was usually the one fielding calls (why do they expect to talk to a potential recruit during school hours?), I usually went into my antimilitary/war/nephews been to Iraq spiel since they were taking my time, eventually one found out son was only 16 and said they weren't supposed to be calling someone that young- I suspect son checked a box on some tests. Now son is 18 and this week I just told a recruiter before 9 am that son was not available- he was away at college in his second year. I'll bet his registering for the draft ("selective service") last fall triggered a new wave of recruiting.

Your child probably checked off some boxes when they took a test such as PSAT, SAT or ACT and said they could get phone calls. Sorry, unless they could retract their info given when they took the tests you're stuck. Does anyone know if ACT/SAT do this?

The military??!! Oh, my, I'll stop complaining about colleges calling.
