On the SDSU website under the a-g courses it has the years required for each a-g class. When you’re submitting your application can you submit more than the required amount of classes?
Like, for example, foreign language has 2 years required, could I only put 2 years of a language on my application and count it towards my GPA, or could I do 3?
And also, the g elective category says one year is required. If I have done 1 semester of political science and 1 year of economics, could I have both of them go into the g category and count towards my GPA?
When you’re submitting your application via the CSU Mentor site, and/or for the UC’s,
you’ll be able to include your grades for each class, for each year.
Example: If you have three years of language and only two are required, you’ll easily be able to list classes and grades for all three years in the language section.
The application is set up for each student to input their classes taken from 9th grade on,
as well as those Planned or In Progress.
The instructions at CSUMentor.com will be (mostly) clear, and they do have online tutorials.
You need to list all a-g courses taken in HS with the corresponding grades. Once you are admitted to a CSU, you send in a final transcript which will have all your classes and grades listed. If they do not match up to the self-reported courses/grades in your application, it could be a reason to rescind your acceptance. Be very thorough when filling out your application and always have another set of eyes double check your entries.
Any a-g courses taken the Summer before Sophomore year through Summer before Senior year will be included in CSU GPA. Senior grades are not included since the application is due Nov 30th and also not included in the CSU GPA calculation.
Yes, if you have Senior quarter grades available at the time of application, you can include them if they are reported on your transcript. Just be aware the more a-g courses that are included in the GPA calculation, the more you dilute your GPA since the extra Honors points are capped at 8 semesters (4 year long courses 10-11th grades)
