No, the letter should be from someone who taught you while you were in high school, but does not have to be a high school teacher.</p>

And another question, does the recs from a Math/Science & Humanities teacher also applies for transfers as well ?

For transfers, from the admissions webpage:

We require three evaluations from college instructors- please give them to your instructors early! We will hold on to any materials sent before your Part 1. One (“Evaluation A”) should be from a math or science instructor and the other two (“Evaluations B and C”) should be from any instructors who know you well. We find that the best recommendations are written by professors who know an applicant well as both a student and a person.</p>

<p>You are also welcome (but not required) to submit two supplemental letters of recommendation from high school teachers, employers, etc.

You could submit one as an official letter and one as supplemental, but you will still need a letter from a humanities teacher.</p>

Why don’t you contact MIT admissions and ask this question (or PM MITChris) and get the answer from MIT instead of trusting the answers of strangers on the internet … MIT will not mind the question.</p>
