Is there a max number of units you can take at a CC before UC rejects you?

i’m currently at my 2nd year at CC and will be staying 1 more year to complete ~90 semester units.

I have a lot just because the UC’s i’m applying to quite have different requirements (i’m applying to UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and UCR; UCR is my backup choice but they require a looot of gen eds so im basically just completing IGETC, in addition to the major requirements). my major is chemical engineering.

it’s just a few more weeks until spring semester is done, and i’ll be applying in the fall. By then i would have completed roughly 62 units. i’m also confused about whether they will look into the units you ALREADY completed prior applying, or essentially the total number of units you’ll take in CC.

I currently have a 4.0 and i’m trying my best to keep up with work and extracurriculars, but can UC’s straight up just reject transfer applicants just because of having too many units? thank you.

no. I have 114 units from community college.

Max you can transfer into UCLA is 105 quarter units, and probably the same for the rest since they are all on quarter system. Which translates to 70 semester credits. Anything over that, you lose the excess. They won’t reject you because of excess units.

there is no limit on how many units you can take at a CC. They will cap the number of units they give you towards graduation as mentioned above. You don’t exactly lose the excess, they will be used to satisfy requirements such as breadth requirements or classes that are prerequisites for ones you want to enroll in.

I suggest looking it it this way: every class you take will be used to satisfy any requirement they may apply to. Separately the UCs give you credit towards the 180 or so (depends on major) quarter units you need to graduate and they cap the credit at 105.
