Is there a point in me trying?

Hello,

I’m going to be quick and bare bones:

A couple years ago, I finished a degree in physics with a 2.68 from a state school.

I grew up in an ethnic (Asian) household that did not accept gay children, blah blah, had lots of falling out.

Finished in the end.

Later on eschewed my physics degree to start my own small company completely unrelated to my degree, and by the time I hit 25, I was making 6 figures.

Now I’d really like to go to GS to do what I’d always wanted to do, which is a “soft” degree in liberal arts.

I recently took 12 credits at a local community college and made straight A’s.

Should I bother? Or is this one of those things no one can tell me unless I actually apply?

By the story above, you are a non-traditional student. Even with 12 credits, you should apply. Just make sure your essay are good and you can articulate yourself. 75% of those admitted transferred credits.

Do bother - you’re a good candidate. I have a similarly varying life experience coupled with good recent grades at a community college, and I was accepted to GS for Fall of this year. Writing is a huge component, so focus on your essays and don’t feel the need to downplay troubles you’ve had on the road. Working through them can be seen as a major asset on your app. Good luck!
