Hello! Okay I would like to give some context to my question:
I have basic knowledge of Russian but I’d like to be more immersed in it so I can become more fluent and have it be my 5th language! The thing is…I don’t want to study abroad IN Russia. Given the current situation there (and I doubt much will really change in the next 2 years or so) I am a bit wary of going there. My parents are really worried too and made it very clear they don’t want me to travel there any time soon. I know I could option for a country like Kazakstan or Belarus or Moldova or something like that where people do speak Russian in certain areas, but I’d feel more comfortable in a “safer” country.
I thought that maybe in my 3rd year at university I could study abroad in Finland! Preferably on the east because eastern Finland borders Russia so guaranteed there would be Russian speakers there. Thing is, does such a program exist? I’m more of a learning language/arts person so is there a program somewhere in eastern Finland that I could apply that pertain to my area of interests (especially learning/speaking Russian?)?
If so, I would assume program would have to belong to a third party since i’m asking this question. if my school offered a program in finland at least in general i wouldn’t be asking this question on here, haha
So if it is (and probably does) belong to a third party, would I lose credits i obtained at school?
Is there a ton more paperwork I have to do?
Is what I am asking for even possible?
Qujanaq! ))
