I was told today that my school's main secretary called about two days ago, saying I had received a brochure from a certain college, but she said it as if this were very normal (to the effect of, "...Your brochure for (college name) has arrived..." Is there a reason for this? I've received things from this college because of the PSAT and whatnot. I took the SAT earlier this month, but those scores don't come out until Monday. I really don't understand this. I never requested anything from this college, though I recently received something in the mail from them, so I am basically receiving a college brochure at school? Has anyone else had this happen to them, or does anyone understand why this is?

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me. I continue to be getting random mail from colleges I care absolutely nothing about such as Randolph-Macon, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of South Carolina, and other various schools that I have no interest for whatsoever. I also keep getting these strange invitations to different summer programs. I got 2 this week for different things relating to Law. One was to some Law Forum or something and the other was some other type of summer program relating to law. I guess it is because I put Law down as what I wanted to major. But the strange thing is that I get all the random college mail at my school, but I have been getting these summer program invitations in my mail at home. I thought you normally don't get this much college mail until your Junior year. I am still a sophomore and already have like a ton of mail. I guess all of it is normal, I don't know.

yeah, i think its normal b/z ive been getting random mail from different colleges too after i finished taking the PSAT.

I've received all of my mail at home, except for this one thing from the University of Vermont...I've never received anything at school before, and a few weeks ago, I received mail from this college at home, so it's pretty weird...

The only letters I've received from school have been about sports.

No, this is a typical college solicitation, yet it was sent to my school as opposed to my home address. I have taken the PSAT twice, and my SAT scores don't come out until Monday, but I have never received any college brochures/pamphlets at school.

The only thing that comes to my mind is, "Huh, that's meh."

Oooookay...

yeah, exactly

Those are useless pieces of mail. Unless they're from a university that I want to go to like Johns Hopkins, or any other good one, I don't even look at them.

But they send some to school? That's my main question...I've receives countless brochures and pamphlets from colleges (almost every day), but none have ever been sent to the school.

me either, none from school....maybe its special, but just look at the university that sent it. If it is not a university you like, then no matter how special (even if the 4 years are free), the letter/brochure would be useless to you.

Yeah, but the school called, asking for us to pick it up...I don't know why it was sent to school. That's the weird thing, esp. since they've sent me things at home before...but then, they send a brochure to my school (and during the summer of all times)?

I'd just say you should stop worrying about it.
Who cares if it's weird? Skunks are weird. People don't worry about skunks (for the most part).

If they're trying to get a group of kids for some reason (like you all went to a gifted camp and put your name on the same mailing list or something, idk) then it would make sense to send 15 brochures in bulk along with the info they regularly send to guidance counselors and deliver it all to school rather than individually to homes.

I ocassionally get those too. I just read them and throw it away :/

I don't know...I don't know of what I did...I got back from Boys' State yesterday, but nothing else that I can think of would even warrant something such as this.

88888888, this was received at the school, which has asked for me to come pick it up.

I receive them at home.

I have NEVER received one at school.
