I am accepted already, but deferred for a gap year, and forgot to ask about this when I was visiting.

Given that Vanderbilt is just blocks away from Music Row, I thought they might have one. But there's no such thing mentioned on the school's website. Is there a recording studio (equipped with stuff like Protools, high quality mics, etc)?

Music recording is just one of my hobbies, so I hope to keep up with it.

I don’t think so. They do have a radio station (internet only now), and there might be something you can use. You can talk to someone in student activities about that. The loss of the on-air station is sad, in my opinion. When my D was there, they had an on-air radio station, and she brought in unsigned musicians to play. Several of them were Belmont students, and they had recording facilities available to them. If you are into music, you will be able to meet other like-minded people who may be able to help you out.

You’re right, that is quite a shame. I just looked up Belmont, and it’s really close to Vandy. Can Vanderbilt students go there to use their equipment/ take classes?

No, I don’t think so. But you can get to know Belmont students! My D got to know a lot of musicians in town by going to various musical activities around town - there are so many things going on. She had a lot of friends outside the Vandy Bubble.

Are you a music major? I would bet the music department can help you out, even if you are not a music major.

Oh, ok. I am not a music major, and had thought about asking. The only reason I was a bit hestitant was because Vandy’s music dept. does not include any popular music (which is what I want to do).
