Is There a Stereotype Where You Live?

And does it apply to you?

yes, i live in a suburban town in new jersey

if you look up the place at urban dictionary, it says that most people are jews (or jappy girls) or else they’re asians. i’m asian.

There’s a huge stereotype for my part of Miami. It’s pretty much called ‘Little Cuba’. I think that says it all, lol.

But no, this stereotype does not apply to me. I am one of the 3 Caucasians left at my school.

My town is usually sterotyped as being ghetto.

I’m not ghetto.

The rich kids neighborhood

I don’t even know. Some GSA and MDI kids probably think we are poor and yokelish.

yes and no

rich white or asian people. Alas, my area is bordering the dwellers of Northern Georgia, so the county fair is apparently an interesting place to people watch.

Applying to me… I am white and asian but not rich. My parents’ mentality is very old school with money. We don’t have mortgages to pay off, so we don’t have fancy expensive cars or allowances or have everyone in my family have a personal computer and whatnot. I don’t mind too much, it’s technically a smarter way to go.

The state I live in Brazil does NOT fit the whole brazilian/latin american stereotype. No summer the entire year, no beautiful beaches, no decent carnival and no rain forest.

We still have (the best) soccer, and beautiful women though.

illegal immigrants, non-english speaking soccer players

No, I dont think I do -_-… but i do play soccer though :p

Ann Arbor is known for being full of hippie stoners. Also known for having lots of Asians.

And no, not me.

^ Remind me to apply to UMich. Football and Asians, I’m there.

My area… full of illegals. 2 years ago we passed a law that was similar to the one Arizona passed. Except it didn’t grant the right to just check anyone. Needless to say, there are fewer immigrants. Also full of Asians.

There are two main DC stereotypes to represent the self-segregated nature of the city (debatable, but we’re talking stereotypes):

1) liberal, elitist, into politics, rich, white, progressive
2) uneducated, poor, liberal, black, violent

I mostly fit into the first.

Ha, you live in the DC area too?

I am everything in the first one except white.

Though everyone calls me the Whitest black guy.

rick kids and guidos.

i kind of fit both i guess, even though my parents are in debt.

new chinatown of los angeles

Um, My town is stereotyped as being very hick, conservative, bigoted, white, and Christian. I definitely don’t fit this being that I hate the country life, am a liberal, Half- African American, and Agnostic.

My county is usually regarded as wholeheartedly redneck. Upon visiting you will find many neighborhoods that easily fit into the lower socioeconomic scale, game commonly hung on walls with antlers, and many ATV’s. Most people believe this county is all about flannel, hunting, and general redneck recreation.

My family does not fit this mold…at all. My parents are considered to be in the upper end socioeconomically, I’ve never driven a four-wheeler, and we’ve never gone hunting. I remember moving here from the more affluent area and thinking, “What is hunting?”. Yes, quite an adjustment.

Texans are stereotypically farmboys/cowboys who ride horses, shout yeehaw, and herd cattle throught the desert while wearing a cowboy hat.

I live in an upper-middle-class planned community and drive a 2002 Nissan Xterra. I hate wearing hats. I hate manual farm labor. I haven’t the slightest hint of a southern accent.

Stereotypes in my area?

My fellow classmates have joked that the community college in my city is for “those who are failures”, or “If I don’t make it to the college of my dreams, I might as well go to [insert the name of that name of that college]”. Of course, since the majority of the people who joked about that came from families who value education very greatly…not a surprise, lol.

But then again…the community college I’m alluding to is one of the biggest community colleges in the United States, and is ranked one of the best in my state. I’ll leave you guys to guess. puts my fingers on my lips
