Is there a unit cap for undergrads? Do we get kicked out if we go over this unit cap?

I’m an engineering major so I’ll be taking a lot of units at Davis. I’ll be transferring in with 108 units (quarter). Does Davis limit the number of units that you can take on its campus? I know that Berkeley has this type of a system where you apparently need to petition in order to take over 235 units. I’m doing engineering but I’m also looking towards med school (keeping both options open) and I’m afraid that taking the med school prereqs (3 chem classes, 3 o-chem classes, 3 bio classes, etc) will make me go over this supposed unit cap and prevent me from graduating.

Does Davis even have this system where they allow undergrads to only take a specific number of units maximum? And if so, are people expected to fulfill their degree requirements within this unit cap/do they get kicked out if they can’t fulfill their requirements within the unit cap?

Thanks for your info! :)

No, you won’t get kicked out. If you get over 225 units, you just need to petition to continue taking classes. The minimum number of units required to graduate is 180 units anyway. Davis isn’t strict about finishing in a certain number of years like Berkeley is, otherwise there wouldn’t be people in their 5th year here (most of them being engineering majors).
