Part I of the GU application was submitted and the student received GU student ID number but cannot find a link on GU website to log-in to the prospective student's account to monitor progress of receipts from teacher and guidance counselor, and receipt for standardized test scores. Does anyone know how to check on-line ? Thank you.

No, there isn’t a way to check online. Georgetown will send you a card in the mail if your application remains incomplete when the committee begins preparing to review.

^Ouch. That’s a tad primitive. I’m curious as to why G doesn’t use the Comm. App yet

Their entire admissions process from app to receipt of materials is ancient!

yea georgetown should just use the common app they ask the same questions anyway it’s just a big waste of time!!!

^ That’s been discussed at length here. Please don’t resurrect that discussion- it was a pointless argument that lasted many posts.

i’m not “resurrecting” anything. people said georgetown’s app is stupid and i’m agreeing.

No one is making you apply! They can do whatever they want to do. UChicago’s questions can be a tad bizarre too. These may be ways to keep their application more targeted to those who really want to go to the school. There’s also a financial reason: it costs money for schools to use common app. services, which is possibly why some even have their supplement separate.

There’s a difference between bizarre (or to stay true to Chicago’s intentions: thought-provoking) essays and having to spend time/energy/money maintaining an application system that is not only primitive but also easily replaceable by the more sophisticated and versatile Common App system. It shouldn’t cost much more to use the Common App in place of a system that they have to maintain themselves.

Also, the fact that we’re all complaining doesn’t mean that we’ll be turned off from the prospect of applying to G because of its application system. It just means that out of a mixture of frustration and concern, we’re voicing our views.

i agree ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

does anybody know how long it takes for gtown to contact you after you submit part I???
