Is there a way to get an earth science degree online?

Hello, I have been looking very hard for such a program but it is starting to look pretty dim right now. I know that some degrees are difficult if not impossible to do online and I am just praying that this is not one of those degrees. Going to a physical college is not an option for me unfortunately and I really don’t want to get into the details of why.

If it is not possible to do online, then I guess I can do a communications degree online.

Maybe you should broaden your search to include environmental science or geology. There are online geology degrees, such as the University of Florida.

Thank you for your reply; I might have to consider doing that. The only real reason I wanted to do earth science was to leave the door open for meteorology. Earth science seemed like the easiest way to get into meteorology without taking courses with monster math.

I will look into environmental science, that seems like it can be interesting.

This isn’t too far off. https://asuonline.asu.edu/online-degree-programs/undergraduate/bachelor-science-geography/ There’s both a BA and a BS in Geography, and you could tilt your electives toward the “weather” aspect. ASU also has a BS in GIS which is very marketable - it’s computer-heavy with a lot of stats but not as much higher math as meteorology.

Woohoo! I felt like you just did an impossible feat. I can deal with computer heavy so I should be OK. That is really awesome! I can’t thank you enough for both of your help.

Environmental scientist here, i think you need to personally do the labs with real equipment and agents. You cant get that online.

Yeah and that is the big problem; I mean not a problem for 98% of people but just for my particular case.

My interest came from tornadoes. I wanted to understand them to a greater depth along with hurricanes to a lesser extent. This will suit my needs close enough until someday I can attend a proper physical college and get my earth science degree.

I will look at environmental science as well though; I haven’t really looked into that in any real depth.

NASA has free data about a variety of natural disasters.
Some GIS classes make use of it.
Here is a tornado example

This has tutorials on using the data
