I plan on majoring in Econ/Finance/ International Studies and applying EA. Since i'm listed as an int'l student from East Asia is there a chance that I could get financial aid (because I need it badly). Also, does applying for aid weaken your chances for admission??

Thank you in advance :D

Yale is need blind for admissions so applying for aid does not affect your admissions chances. Your stats are irrelevant with regard to your ability to get financial aid since it is completely need based. Assuming typical savings and assets, no family contribution is expected if your parents make less than $65K annually. In the range from $65K to $180K they will be expected to pay about 10% of their income. Yale is one of the few schools that will be this generous with international students. If your family would be expected to contribute but does not choose to do so, then you will need to look at a slightly less selective university that will buy your attendance with a merit scholarship.

^They changed their policy slightly, and (from personal experience), I know that the 180,000 mark is where you start paying almost all if not all of the bill unless you have more kids in college. My sister is in college now, so Yale gave us about 30 grand which is AMAZING, but when she graduates, it will be very expensive for us. EFC now is around 20 grand, when she graduates, it will probably double. Yale is VERY generous, however, and you probably won’t get a better deal from most other private schools, especially as an international student.
