So I got a B as my final grade for stat. I was surprised because before the final I did check. It was 88%. So the final worth 350 points which is 35%. I just need to get a B (82%+ )enable to get an A. I think I did OK on my final, I never thought It was that bad. So I don't have my professors phone number nor email because he is an old man. He is weird because he never give out information to his students nor help them. He is useless. I REALLY CAN'T BELIEVE I GOT a B. THIS WILL SCREW MY CHANCE FOR UCB, UCI, AND UCLA. THIS IS MY PREREQ CLASS. I'm super rage at this moment, and I really want to find this professor to find why I GOT A B. are you kidding me? I KNOW THE STAT BOOK AND ALL THE MATERIALS LIKE I KNOW MYSELF.

others are all As
I took 5 classes.

what is your final GPA?

should be around either 3.7-3.6. Before that B, My prereq gpa was 4.0 now it will become ■■■. This is my prereq class btw. :(

does your CC use +/-?

There is a way to petition for your grade however you’re going to need a good reason and you’re going to have to set up an appointment with the dean to discuss your grade. But 88%, I highly doubt you’re going to get boosted up to an A.

@kitty, No.
@jonny, I will try to contact this professor first then let see how I did on my Final. But yeah, I need the dean office to give me his information.

Was your class based on a strict 1000-pts grading system, i.e. accumulation of 900 pts gets you an A?

Is there really no way of contacting the professor? That’s kind of odd. I would check your school’s faculty directory and see if he has an extension number so you can leave a phone message at least…

Is your school officially on holiday break now? If yes, you might just have to wait until school starts to speak with him concerning the grade you received on your final. Unless he made a genuine error in noting your grade, chances may be slim for a successful petition of change to your academic record.

I don’t think you’ll have to much luck. I got stuck with a c in English even though I had a damn good reason. I would’ve had like a 3.8 if I could’ve retaken it like I wanted.

Does he teach in winter? find out if he is and on the 1st day go to him and ask

I went back to the previous schedule and checked. He teaches for fall + spring semester every year, same time, and same classroom. He works part time, so stat is the only class that he will teach.

and yes he grades them base on points. 1000- 900 A

How would an 82% on the final bring you to 900 points? I’m just curious. If the final was worth 350 points and you were at 88% before the final, didn’t you need ~94% to get an A?

Anyway, seems like you know what to do. Good luck (:

ferrari i’m sorry to hear. but i think you’ll just have to live with the B. a B is great

I can’t believe he didn’t curve at all. I got like 3 As out of 4 exams, but i can’t believe he gave me a B. Maybe I screw up the final.

Don’t you need a 94% on your final to get an A if it’s based on a 1000 point system?

It’s odd that there is no contact information at all. Not even on your school website? Like elphapple said, there should be at least an email or extension under the school directory ):

Good luck dude!

Wait, if you had a 88% as your overall class then getting a 82% on your final isn’t going to raise your grade to an “A”. It actually lowers it, lol.

If your final exam score is higher than your overall grade in the class -> it raises it
If it is lower than your overall grade in the class -> it lowers it

@^ i missed calculate…oh well,but I still can’t believe I actually got a B in stat.
