i know some schools have those kinda overnight events for admitted students. Usually around april i think.

No. The university got rid of official overnight visits a couple years ago (for better or worse). However, if you know someone, you can set up an unofficial visit (that's what I did).

There are a few admitted student days, however. My D and I found it very helpful and in fact, I think that is what sold her on Emory. She attended a class or two, listened to some panel discussions, met other prospective students and soaked up that April sun! If there is an organization or activity you might be interested in joining at Emory, contact them and see if they can connect you with a student. There are also a number of Emory parents on this board, so depending on your gender and interests, one of us may be able to help you.

soooo my guardians and I have concluded that the best way for me to experience the Emory atmosphere is to have me go alone and possiblity stay overnight with some students. How exactly should i start this momvinmom? Should i call Emory and ask them to hook me up with a student? Should i post a thread in the parents forum and ask if any of their S (i'm male) would be willing to show me around campus and atlanta and stuff?

my aunt also have a question, so i'll type it for her

"how will I be sure that N (N for nephew) will be safe and that the student is trustable?"

How can you be sure you'll be safe anywhere. If you want ironclad guarantees, you'd better stay home. If Emory places you with a student, it will be someone they trust not to steer you wrong. But then again you never know.

Betterday,

Emory has an "Admitted Students" event that is usually held in the mid-April timeframe, after decisions have been sent out to RD applicants. The function is generally for the benefit of those who have been accepted RD to multiple schools and are trying to decide which school to attend before the May 1st deadline. This is generally a good time to visit and get a wider exposure to different aspects of Emory's academic and campus programs.

As far as overnight stays, as davidbenedict said, Emory did away with officially hosting overnight stays for students a few years back. They leave it to you to arrange for your own overnights with student(s) you may know. This said, though, the intent of an overnight would be to help you assess whether the fit is what you like. If you've already been admitted ED II to Emory (and thus made a binding commitment to enroll), why go through the added expense and logistics of an overnight stay? Did you not visit Emory before applying ED II?

Betterday55, I was not aware you were already accepted EDII. Congratulations. If you want to visit, maybe you can find out if there are other students from your state or area attending and make a connection that way. I have a D so sorry I can't help on an overnight. Do you have any groups you are interested in? newspaper, band, religous group?
