So now that i've finally been accepted to both Rochester and Cornell (with Rochester giving me an amazingly good aid package) I want to visit URoch for the spring attending students day. Coming from nyc, does this mean i'll have to stay overnight in some hotel? I mean considering its 6 hours away I guess it's the best option but is there an affordable way to get there lol? I hear there's an Amtrack station there and a greyhound bus, but its pretty pricey for a roundtrip =X
any suggestions? thanks :]

“Pricey” considering the cost of an education at ANY decent private college?
Face it, the cost of a visit is a drop in the bucket. As far as overnight I’d contact the admissions office/counselor and ask about a dorm overnight. A lot of colleges offer that and it gives you a much better idea of campus life.
Congrats on two great acceptances!

They have dorm overnights in April.

I have no idea how to get from Ithaca to Rochester except by car. It is a nice drive. Sorry.

If you call enough in advance you can stay on campus with a current student host. Ithaca to Rochester by car is the only way to go - it is a beautiful drive through the finger lakes.

You can actually take Greyhound from Rochester to Ithaca. Getting to Rochester from NYC -several options - Jet Blue, Amtrak… bus
