I was wondering if Cal had an early assurance program with Cal law. If so, that would definitely sway my decision.

Nope

…

The sad truth about Boalt, or law school in general, is that they would rather take a student from Cal State Fullerton with a 3.89 gpa over a Cal student with a 3.65 gpa (same LSAT). It’s a numbers game, they really don’t care where you went UG and Boalt does not give hand outs to Cal students.

k, thanks. Guess I’ll be going to Georgetown or Amherst

What’s even sadder is that it’s easier to get that 3.89 from Cal State Fullerton than a 3.65 from Cal.

That’s the sad part of the law school admissions game. Adcoms don’t really care about admitting the most talented and hardest working students. They care about admitting students with the best numbers, which is not the same thing. An engineer from Cal with a 3.5 will lose to a guy with a 3.9 who majored in Leisure Studies at some 4th tier school, controlling for LSAT.

totally agree…
they don’t even care about your EC or anything…
If you have high GPA+LSAT, you are in

it may be tougher to get into a law school as a Cal undergrad but once in, the Cal undergrad will have a huge advantage.

Contrast this with U of M, which was caught faking the statistics by telling U of M senors not to take the LSAT and that they would be comped in anyway.

just wondering, what are the prereqs for law school?

There are no official prerequisite classes. Just get a good GPA and LSAT score. Or don’t if you are okay going to a bad law school.
