<p>Nope. I applied as a transfer for the fall of 2009 and all they requested were the transcripts along with the application.</p>
<p>If you’re applying to Harpur it’s optional. I wrote one anyway. I think it’s mandatory for SOM and Decker but they accept very few transfers.</p>
<p>My son transferred from American University into Harpur. I don’t believe that it was required, but he sent one anyway. They also admitted him within two weeks of receiving all of his materials, transcripts, the essay included.</p>
<p>He was told that they did read and consider his essay, so I think that it helped him, along with his solid grades and GPA.</p>
<p>For SOM, it’s also not required, at least for last year since i transfered here last fall.</p>
