No worries at all. As a rule of thumb I try not to infer criticism or ill will.
So if anyone wants to be critical or mean, they have to be very overt for me to get it. Cluelessness is underrated.

Given the past few winters I would be hesitant to leave too many New England schools for January. We too looked in the fall and did not apply to all schools where DS interviewed. DS had days off from school for visits so that helped. Many schools have Saturday interviews so that can help if you are traveling,
Also winter break is a great time to work in essays and for teachers to work on recommendations which can be hard to do if you haven’t finalized your list. Our school asks the kids to turn in forms in November so teachers have time to work on them.
6teenSearch, you also want to keep weather in mind… January in MA, NH, CT is not exactly pleasant… you don’t want to have very last appointment and have rush interviews in case of inclement weather or re-scheduling… although schools would try not to rush but from the practicality aspect it ends up happening… I would say best time to interview is Oct-Nov- Early Dec… this gives you/your kid time and ideas to customize your answers based on what you have learned/liked about the school… you can be more ‘real’ in your answers and obviously will know better which school fits the bill. Worked in our case
We had to cancel one in early December due to snow. The only time they could give us was the day before the deadline… and it was miserable weather again, but we got there.
Thinking back = we went the week after Thanksgiving. It was relatively empty as everyone had just travelled somewhere. I would not have like to go in the snowy months as the tour might have been a drag…personal preference, of course!
MA,
Our school does that, too. And interestingly they are funneled first through the placement office, which I imagine is so that they can make sure they do in fact get done. A nice perk.
London,
Keep in mind that, except for one, we toured all of these last spring. Arguably, we could skip the second tour and just have DC interview, but why not get a second look and meet another student guide?
CaringMom, Yes, but they are all pretty close to us. So that helps!
