im curious...

yups…b4 classes start in August…there will eventually be an entire orientation website if there isn’t one already…

“Syracuse Welcome 2009, Syracuse University new student orientation officially begins Thursday, August 27, 2009.”

is this the orientation date? cuz i wanna go back to China this summer… what if i miss the orientation?

that’s it alright; No idea what happens if you miss orientation, but just so you know, classes start on August 31st…when would you move in if you don’t go to orientation? classes start only 4 days later

First of all, orientation is a multi-day ordeal; it just starts on the 27th; goes for a few more days. I worked orientation for 'cuse last year…SU’s orientation isn’t really an informational one persay; your ReadySet will have all the paperwork and such that you need. However, orientation is really useful for getting acquainted with the campus itself and the surrounding city, along with your fellow classmates of course. Strangely enough, I’m still good friends with a few of the kids I met two years ago at orientation. It is a nice opportunity to get to move in early–you’ll get Goon Squad members (upperclassmen) to help you tow your stuff up to your room. And there’s a lot of free food and various memorabilia given away…so basically, if it’s not a huge imposition for you to go, you definitely should.

zel 17-what is ReadySet?

the ReadySet is SU’s name for the collection of paperwork installments that incoming students are sent over the summer before matriculation. There’s a lot more info on it here if you’re interested:

It’s basically the organized solution to having 15 mailings–this way, they’re organized thematically and come with folders so we’re less likely to lose things!

Thanks! That system looks pretty organized.
