Is there any benefit to completing the CSS Profile early (RD)?

It looks like the RD deadline for completing the CSS profile for the schools our D is applying to is Feb 15th, which will allow us to use the completed tax returns we will do in January. there is no reason to do it before then, is there? We can go ahead and start filling it out, but use the tax returns we have from this year as 'last year's' and then add the 2014 return info as 'this year's' info in January of 2015..as long as we haven't submitted the application (as I understand we can't plan on making any changes once the Profile ha been submitted).

In this college app process there are so many things that just feel as though you need to hurry and get done...first come, first served, etc. Does this apply to the CSS Profile?

No, just hurry and get your taxes done in January, which is a difficult task for many. You may want to pick a date to file that has the least assets, like after a payout for a purchase or property taxes, but before payday. Other than that you can relax till then.

I would complete the CSS asap using your 2013 data. You can update once your 2014 is “in the Bag”.

I see on CSS Profile site it recommends filing two weeks before school’s deadline. In our case we may not have all info on Jan. 31, so we are filing now.
