is there any benefit to submitting the application early?

does mcgill have something like rolling admissions where I would hear back sooner if i submit my app sooner, or should i wait until i retake SAT subject tests in november & get those scores in to send my app?

They have rolling admissions, and the people who get in earlier sometimes have first crack at courses.

I’ve been wondering the same exact thing.

Admission is rolling in the sense that there is no one day when all decisions will be announced, but you will not hear back from the school before they receive your first semester grades. In other words, if you apply now, you still will not get a decision until January or February.

As for course selection, I’ve never heard of anyone getting “first crack” because of their grades. Students who will be entering their final year (called U3) get to register first (in March) for courses for the following school year, followed by the next lower year (U2), followed by the next lower year (U1) until people entering the school as freshmen (U0) get to choose some time late June/early July.

so if my first semester grades aren’t finalized until the middle of january, then i should just wait until after i retake my subject tests i guess to send in my app…even if im pretty sure that i’ll get in with the subject test scores i have now?

That’s probably what I would have done. But honestly, any question like this would probably best be answered by the admissions staff at the school. They will give you the most accurate response, even if it takes them a while to get back to you by e-mail. Or try calling. Good luck!
