<p>I did really bad (when I say really, I mean really) on my SAT :'(. All my dreams got shattered. I wanted to apply in 10 colleges now it came to 5. Now I am applying college where SAT scores are optional. Although I'm apply to Colgate where SAT is required. I contacted admission office to to tell why my SAT score was bad, I have a reason. So they told me to send an explanation about it. So do yo think this will work? Will this help me to get admitted in Colgate,Bates,Bard and Berea?
And one more thing, sorry for the long post :P
It is my dream to apply in Stanford so with this score I will not be able to get admitted there but still I'm applying. So do you think I will get there with a low score? If I have a good essay, will this help me?</p>

<p>How bad is really bad? You CCer’s like to exaggerate lol. I would apply anyway, discuss why you may have scored low in your essay. Retake in January,then send those scores immediately.</p>
<p>@Vandemory1342 my SAT score is really low I mean in the 400s :’( and yeah I have a huge reason for my bad score. Colgate told me to email them the an explanation for it and they will attach it to my college application after they get it.</p>
<p>@MYOS1634 the problem is- in my country, if i register late I have to give my test in another state, which is a HUGE PROBLEM and that was the reason for my last bad score. SO I don’t want to do the same mistake again. And yeah, I’m applying for financial aid. I guess its too late to apply to any other college since the dead line is all most near. Do you think I have a chance in the mention colleges, EXCEPT Stanford.</p>
<p>You may have a chance at Berea if the rest of your application is good.
I’d add a couple schools like Earlham, Dickinson, or St Olaf, that have later deadlines.</p>
<p>Stanford “recommends” subject tests, in that, if the rest of your application is stellar (like, your an International Math Olympian or an Athletic Olympian and have a 4.0 etc) then you don’t need them. Mere mortals, though, need those.</p>
<p>I understand the problem with going to another state! Can you take the ACT instead? You may do better. The test is in February so you may still have time to register without being late (not long though, it should be around now). In addition, the ACT counts as SAT + Subjects. :)</p>

I guess if i don’t get into any colleges now, I will apply this year (2014) since I’m completing my A’levels also (GCE). There is no chance taking ACT because in my country it is not available. Thanks man for your reply. And PRAY FOR ME! </p>
