Is there any chance for Intl like me?

I am an international students from Mainland China, where I think is quite difficult to apply to U.S. It's not convenient for us to take SAT. It's not advancing to get through the verbal parts.
I've got poor score on my verbal and writing.
CR 480
Maths 780
Writing 500

SAT SUBJECTS
Maths 2 : 760
Physics: 630
What kind of LAC or Us can I be admitted?
I don't think Bowdoin will be mine.
Could you guys gimme sum suggestions?
and my TOeFl is 617+5.0
My GPA are As or Bs
I need a lot aid, and I've got no chance to take a second SAT
And there are few students in China apply to LAC. Few of them know these terrific collegs. Could it be a chance to my diversity? Could it be my advantage?

Thanx A Lot

Grinnell has a good number of students from China. My son, who is a sophomore, had a freshman year roommate from Nanjing. I honestly have no idea about the SAT range for international kids at Grinnell. Grinnell actively recruits international students, of the small LACs it has among the highest percentage of internationals.

Their admissions office is helpful and friendly and I am sure would be happy to let you know if they are recruiting near where you live. Have you contacted them directly? They could also put you in touch with current international students. Depending on what you are interested in studying, there are a range of schools with high % international kids, or wanting more. Not all provide financial aid to international students, so if this is a consideration for you- be careful with your applications. Other schools we saw with a high % internationals included Macalester (probably similarly difficult to get into as Grinnell) and Lawrence (less difficult than Grinnell).

Thanq so much for your advice, robyrm.

Grinnell is kind of stingy with aid for internationals; they only give up to half-tuition for most internationals. International students seem to work the most. You may get in, but you may not be able to afford it.

I need a lot aid.

If you apply for full aid,I don't suggest that you apply to Grinnell.
Because it gives a special scholarship to Nanjing students. So students from other parts of China will have difficulty in getting a full aid.But if you apply for half aid,at least your SATs won't hurt you that much.
Grinnell sent 20+ offers with half scholarships in China.

i thought Grinnell did "Need Blind" admissions so that a person's financial aid did not play any sort of role in the admissions process...

is that right?

Yes,they claim that they are need-blind.
But I don't think they can make this policy possible with International students.
Actually, the more your family contribute, the bigger your chance is.(this doesn't go with US students of course)

thanx a lot for ur cut-throat information, guys. I really need an almost full-aid. Any other colleges sutable for my stats with big aids?

Grinnell is still need-blind for domestic students, but this year has gone to a need-sensitive policy for international students. The hope is that there will be fewer international students who are "gapped" when it comes to financial aid awards. In other words, the admission decisions will be made such that need is taken into account, and there won't be so many students who'd really like to attend Grinnell but can't afford to. This, of course, is for INTERNATIONAL students ONLY. All domestic students will still be considered for admission on a need-blind basis.
